Hermidale Beach Volleyball

Unique Outback Event

The Hermidale Beach Volleyball competition was born in 2004 when Natalie Jeffery got the idea from a local Hermidale identity who suggested it over a cold beer at the Hermidale Hotel. Natalie jumped at the idea, it was unique, and had the potential to draw crowds from outside our local area making it a great event for fundraising.
All we needed was to find 90 tonnes of sand and 22,000 litres of water to transform our tiny hamlet into a balmy beach setting complete with sand, surf, palm trees and plenty of refreshments. The locals all pitched in and our inaugural Hermidale Beach Volleyball event was a huge success with money raised from the day being donated to a local boy with cancer.
Now in its 5th year, the Hermidale Beach Volleyball day is very beneficial to our small rural community with $1000s of dollars raised for our local organisations.  Last year we were very fortunate to have the "Sydney Slickers" fundraising for us.  They are a group of mates in Sydney who wanted to help out a rural community affected by the drought.  With Hermidale connections we were lucky to be the chosen community.  They raised $15000 to help our local organisations.  Thankyou Sydney Slickers.
The competition is growing every year, with 2 courts in action. It is a great festive atmosphere with something for everyone.  Ocean Hermidale provides a cool relief between the 2 courts for kids, players and spectators.
This year a limit has been placed on team numbers. Only the first 30 nominated teams will be accepted into the competition. So get your nominations in as soon as possible.
Dont forget to deck your team out in a “team outfit” to impress the judges!!
